Ad Net Zero launches in Aotearoa
Ad Net Zero officially launched in Aotearoa today, making it the fourth region worldwide to adopt the framework. The launch was marked at TVNZ with a panel discussion alongside over 150 colleagues across our industry, 35 early Supporters, and the Hon. James Shaw, Minister of Climate Change. In his address, Minister Shaw stated "The launch of Ad Net Zero is a positive step towards bringing the advertising industry together to work towards a lower carbon future."
At the heart of Ad Net Zero lies a comprehensive five-point action plan with a mission to accelerate the decarbonisation of the advertising industry. The initiative imagines a future where ads are made by sustainable businesses, using sustainable production processes, distributed through sustainable media supply chains, and promote products and services that are themselves more sustainable.
Simon Lendrum, Chief Executive of Commercial Communications Council, notes "The advertising industry has proven time and again the power of collective creative thinking and innovation. Both will be essential in reducing carbon emissions across the entire advertising ecosystem. We welcome you to delve deeper into the Ad Net Zero initiative and its role in addressing the climate emergency.”
